Khalsa Care Foundation (KCF) is a Sikh Gurdwara located in Pacoima, California. Much of the community in the Pacoima and surrounding cities fall in the lower income bracket; many families in the area are struggling to maintain a roof over their head and food on the table. At KCF, we believe that no one should worry about how and if they will be able to feed their children and family. The Khalsa Food Pantry was established in 2012 to help serve that need and has been giving groceries to families in the area weekly since then. There is enough food for the week and include perishable and non-perishable items, such as cans, bread, cereal, pasta, fruits, and vegetables. The list goes on and we pride ourselves in having the resources to be able to continue this important service since then. Unfortunately, during the Covid-19 pandemic, we have seen the need for food and groceries grow tenfold in our local communities. Since April 11th, 2020 KCF has served over 355,000 individual hot meals to low-income families, people with disabilities & homeless shelters throughout Southern California. Recent Announcement: Los Angeles Mayor's Office & Department of Disability reached out to Khalsa Care Foundation with a Seva opportunity to help those who are most vulnerable with disabilities who are elderly, can't leave their homes or cook meals- Starting May 18th, we will be preparing 3,000+ hot meals DAILY until Dec 31st. In total, we will have made over 490,000 hot meals in 2020. Our Cost will be around $2.75 per meal which includes a meal, water bottle & small snack which accounts to a cost of over $1,347,500.
