Many have reached out to express their desire to help our mountain neighbors suffering the effects of the Creek Fire, which continues to burn 70 miles northeast of Fresno. More than 45,000 people have been evacuated across Fresno and Madera counties. SWOCC is joining with other local Sikh organizations to support our neighbors affected by this wildfire by raising money for the Central CA Red Cross as a united Central Valley sangat. By combining our efforts, we expand our reach and maximize the help we can provide to people. All funds will go to the Red Cross and will be donated together as one Sikh community. Please donate by September 20. The mission of the Red Cross is to aid those affected by disasters; their emergency relief services are free and open to all who need them. We believe any community funds collected will most directly help evacuees if they are donated to this critical organization - it is on the ground with trained staff and volunteers, with vast experience and infrastructure, directly assisting people with their immediate needs. Let's join together to assist our foothill brothers and sisters in their time of need as we pray for them, for our state, for our country and the world, and for sarbat da bhalla.
