On 1 April, Fauja Singh (world’s oldest marathoner) will be 109 years old. He is the founder member of Sikhs In The City (SITC) Running Club. To celebrate this SITC is organising a special Fauja Singh Birthday Challenge Marathon We are pleased to announce that the date for the second limited entry friendly race has been set as Sunday 29 March 2020. We hope to welcome back as many of our loyal regulars as possible, while also encouraging first timers to give us a try. Those of you who have taken part in our events will already know but for the first timers here is a summary: • The route is wheelchair friendly and mostly on good tarmac surface • Race start at 10:00 am • If you complete even one lap of the 2.014 Km course you will get a medal (21 laps is a marathon) • You can run until 4:54 pm (6 hours 54 minutes, the time he did at his first marathon aged 89) • Clock timed so best if you started on time. Rewards include a unique medal and a chance to meet and have a selfie with the world's oldest marathon runner - Fauja Singh BEM There is a feeding station and loos at the Start/Finish of each lap serving usual drinks, chocs, fruit, tea/coffee and samosas! • The event has all the usual support of first aiders, marshals and is fully insured. • The course is certified for distance and will count towards your 100 Marathon Club total. • There is also free parking along the route but we ask if you can park at least 100m away from the start/finish which is close to GPS reference IG4 5PS When Sunday, 29/03/2020 Time 10:00 Course Undulating | Road Max 109 competitors
